BUSINESS LEADER ROY BOSTOCK JOINS COUNCIL FOR A STRONG AMERICA’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Council for a Strong America (CSA) today announced the appointment of one of the nation’s foremost business leaders, Roy J. Bostock, to its Board of Directors.
Bostock comes to CSA with decades of visionary experience in both the corporate and non-profit sectors. He has held top leadership positions at public companies in the airline, internet services and financial services industries including: Chairman, Northwest Airlines; Vice Chairman, Delta Airlines; Chairman, Yahoo! Inc.; and Director, Morgan Stanley. He held senior executive positions in the advertising industry, including the role of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of D’Arcy Masius, Benton & Bowles for ten years. He has served as Chairman of the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. He is a former Chairman and Trustee of the Committee for Economic Development and a former Trustee of the United Way of New York City. Bostock is also a Trustee Emeritus of Duke University and a past President of the Board of Education of Rye, New York. He is currently a Principal of Sealedge Investments, LLC.

“His commanding accomplishments in both the corporate and non-profit sectors demonstrate the can-do spirit we need to build a more secure nation through wise investments in children and youth.”
CSA is the parent organization of five nonpartisan membership organizations comprised of 8,500 unexpected messengers who champion research-based public investments that strengthen the nation by preparing at-risk children to succeed.
Law enforcement leaders who are part of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids are dedicated to crime prevention. Retired admirals and generals who are members of Mission: Readiness focus on improving national security. The business executives who make up ReadyNation promote policies that create a stronger pipeline to the workforce. Evangelical pastors and ministry leaders representing Shepherding the Next Generation advocate for practices that strengthen families and communities. And sports leaders who are members of Champions for America’s Future advocate for public investments in youth to create a stronger, healthier America.
“Roy deeply believes that true success means giving back,” said CSA President David Kass. “The expertise that drove his tremendous accomplishments in the business world and his proven commitment to children and youth will be a powerful force for our success in the years to come.”
Bostock has been a long-time member of CSA’s business organization, ReadyNation. As a CSA Board member, he will provide strategic direction in CSA’s efforts to support members working to reduce crime, improve national security, and build stronger, healthier communities nationwide.
“My work with ReadyNation to date has demonstrated what can happen when business leaders ensure policymakers know what works for building our future workforce,” Bostock said. “I’m thrilled to deepen my relationship with CSA because there is no other organization more effective at amplifying the voices of unexpected messengers for policies that make our nation stronger.”
Bostock attended Duke University and played both football and baseball while majoring in English Literature. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated in 1962. He received an MBA from Harvard University in 1964. He is married to Merilee Huser Bostock. They have three grown children and live in Rye, New York. Bostock is heavily involved in pro-bono activities, particularly surrounding his alma matter.
