Melody launches Bluetooth over IP
Melody launches Bluetooth over IP Melody Interactive Solutions has developed a new technology for Bluetoothtm development which has not been presented previously - Bluetooth over IP (BoIP). Based on this technology Melody now launches a new product, Melody Bluetooth Emulation Environment, which enables remote testing of Bluetooth applications from any location with a TCP/IP connection without being dependent on Bluetooth modules. The Melody Bluetooth Emulation Environment makes it possible to develop and test Bluetooth applications without having access to Bluetooth modules. The product is aimed at Bluetooth application developers and simulates a development environment consisting of two parts; one or more Melody BoIP Modules emulating real Bluetooth modules, and the Melody BoIP Analyzer, an analysis tool for application developers who need to be able to study the Bluetooth communication in detail. "This is not a competing solution or meant to replace Bluetooth but a way of speeding up application development without being dependent on the supply of Bluetooth modules. A simulation environment is also a necessity for developing and testing complex Bluetooth applications. This will be the case for a long time as the standard continues to be developed," says Linus Dalin, CTO at Melody Interactive Solutions. "We see a great market potential for the Melody Bluetooth Emulation Environment and hope that application developers will perceive the barrier to get started as considerably lower with this product and thereby help speed up the development of Bluetooth," adds Ulf Änggård, CEO and President of Melody Interactive Solutions. There are close to 2,500 member companies in the Bluetoothtm SIG today and there are many other companies interested in Bluetooth. A first version of the Melody Bluetooth Emulation Environment will be available for download on Melody's homepage by the end of June.
