Folding shelves for the parcel delivery industry
Modul-System is introducing a range of folding shelves for the parcel delivery service industry.
A flexible solution for businesses that require good storage capabilities, but from time to time need to utilize the complete floor space of their service vehicles.
"We are offering a very competitive solution to a large customer group. The system has been developed together with companies within the industry, which ensures that the product meets the users’ demands for functionality and ergonomics", says Thomas Johansson, vice president at Modul-System.
The solution is based on folding shelves. When being used, the load area in the vehicle is increased by up to 50 percent. When stowed away, larger items can be placed on the vehicle floor. Because the shelves might be opened and closed several times per day, much effort has gone into the development of a practical and ergonomic solution.
The system is produced from ultra-high strength steel, therefore it is both lightweight and robust. To make them easy to operate, the shelves are equipped with gas struts as standard. The design with higher side and rear edges means packages stay securely on the shelves when the vehicle is being driven. The lower, specially designed, front edge facilitates unloading.
"Our goal was to design a product which is both better and lighter than similar solutions on the market today. Our product enables the customer to become more efficient, and load more in their service vans, without exceeding payload", says Thomas Johansson.
The shelves are available in several lengths to fit different vehicle models perfectly. Each shelf has a load capacity of 120 kg, and can be mounted with an incline if required. The shelf end supports’ integrated T-track profiles can be used, for example, to secure cargo, and is compatible with Modul-System’s standard lashing products.
"In addition, we can offer a non-intrusive installation. When you don’t have to drill through the vehicle body, the risk of rust is eliminated, which will have a positive impact of the vehicle’s second hand resale value", says Thomas Johansson.
For parcel delivery vans, Modul-System will as from 2017 also offer a lightweight bulkhead with a sliding door, for quick and easy access to the cargo area.
