Modul-Connect – vehicle electrics made simple
The days of complicated electrical installations in service vehicles are over.
With Modul-Connect, the system where multiple products can be powered and switched along a single cable simultaneously, electrics are made simple.
"Thanks to ‘plug & play’ functionality, the system can be installed quickly and safely, without the need for experienced electricians or complex programming", explains Thomas Johansson, vice president of Modul-System.
The last few years, Modul-System has brought several own-developed electrical products to the market. The interior light assortment, together with the range of power inverters, have been well received, and shortly a range of work lights and beacons will be available.
"Being a total solution provider, we have always offered these products in our Service Centers. The difference from before is that we now develop them ourselves, which enables us to offer top quality products with confidence", says Thomas Johansson.
Modul-System is now taking vehicle electrics one step further, introducing the modular wiring and control system Modul-Connect. Using a unique digital signal to control all electrical components connected to the system, it allows multiple products to be powered and switched along a single cable simultaneously.
"Because the system is modular, we can offer a tailor-made solution to each customer. The modularity also makes it extremely flexible, and easy to adapt if the requirements change", says Thomas Johansson.
Thanks to ‘plug & play’ functionality, the installation time can be significantly reduced.
"The time saving will of course differ between specifications, but it is not uncommon to save up to 40 percent on installation time, compared to traditional wiring", says Thomas Johansson.
Modul-Connect comes with an inbuilt battery guard, which will protect the vehicle’s start capacity. It is also extremely resistant to dust and water (IP67). In addition, it is electronically fused to prevent accessories from breaking in the event of a short circuit.
"As it is a stand-alone solution, not connected to the vehicle’s CAN bus system, it will not be effected by, for example, software updates from the vehicle manufacturer. The system is also extremely efficient from a fault-finding perspective", says Thomas Johansson.
In addition, it is lightweight.
"For customers who have a lot of electrical components in their vehicles, Modul-Connect can offer a significant weight reduction. For example, we recently lowered the weight of the wiring from 25 kg to 5 kg for one of our largest utility customers", Johansson explains.
Modular, lightweight and robust, Modul-Connect sits well with the other products in the Modul-System portfolio.
