Transporting, serving and clearing: Moffat shows its school catering solution at LACA 2015

When specifying school catering equipment, it’s important to consider the pupil journey, from start to finish. Which is why, at the LACA Main Event 2015, Moffat will be showing equipment specially designed for all areas of school catering, from heated food transport to counters and clearing.
On the stand will be Moffat’s PF12 food transport heated holding cabinet, which is designed to hold hot food at optimum temperatures for serving, without spoiling. This unit is ideal for schools as meals can be prepared then held, ready to wheel-in and serve as soon as the lunchtime bell rings. This is especially suited to multi-purpose areas and when the kitchen is separate from the dining room.
Depending on the size of the school, the equipment needed to serve food will range from a single foodservice trolley to a multi-module foodservice area, with hot and cold display units, cooking stations and so forth.
The Grab & Go sector is on an upward trend. Moffat supplies display units in both chilled and heated versions ideal for extending service to popular grab and go options such as sandwiches, salads, and pastries. Moffat has developed a special circulating air system for its heated displays that gently warms the product without making it soggy or drying it out – so pastries stay hot and fresh for longer.
In school dining rooms, clearing up needs to be planned for, too – how waste is managed and dirties got to the wash area. One solution is a mobile clear-away trolley, where children can scrape food waste into a bin and deposit trays and crockery. An example of this trolley will be on the Moffat stand at the Event.
There is a strong demand for flexible food counters in schools - for example, ones that can be wheeled out of the way so the space can be used for lessons, assemblies or gym at other times. Bespoke designed counters can be tailored to a site’s exact requirements, making them perfect for unusual spaces or requirements, such as old buildings. Moffat supplies both bespoke designed counters and standard modular units.
