Thought-Provoking Highbrow Magazine Launches
Find intelligent writing about news of the day and more in new online magazine founded by veteran journalist Tara Taghizadeh
Vienna, VA—August 29, 2011. Highbrow Magazine (www.highbrowmagazine.com), a liberal, general-interest online magazine, has recently launched. The magazine covers arts/entertainment, news and politics, media, food and travel.
According to Founding Editor & Publisher Tara Taghizadeh, “The goal of the magazine is to feature thought-provoking, intelligent writing -- with an edge. We plan to cover issues of the day, but also offer insight into more unusual subjects that are not always covered by the mainstream media.”
This week’s content features articles about President Obama’s chances for re-election; sartorial colonialism—how the suit conquered the world; the rise of “fake news” shows and commentators; a defense of Rep. Anthony Weiner; and excerpts from New York Times restaurant critic Sam Sifton’s unexpectedly poetic reviews.
Taghizadeh is a longtime journalist who has worked for a number of news organizations and publishers, including Gannett News Service, Post-Newsweek Tech Media, the National Geographic Society, and AOL. Her writing has also appeared in various publications and Websites, such as the Chicago Tribune, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gannett Newspapers and the San Francisco Weekly.
“Our writers and contributors come from all walks of life, which is the key ingredient to a lively magazine,” Taghizadeh said. “Each one brings a unique voice and perspective, and we aim to create an arena for readers in which intelligent thought, interesting discussion and wit can thrive.”
Virginia Woolf once described a highbrow as “…the man or woman of thoroughbred intelligence who rides his mind at a gallop across country in pursuit of an idea.”
“It is that pursuit of an idea that inspires us at the magazine to critique and analyze the events and personalities of our time,” Taghizadeh explains. Highbrow Magazine™ is a Limited Liability Company (LLC) based in the suburbs of Washington, DC.
