Mölnlycke Health Care’s long-term target to reach net zero emissions validated by Science Based Targets initiative
Gothenburg, Sweden. 13 May, 2025. Mölnlycke’s long-term net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), following prior validation of the company’s near-term GHG emission reduction targets.
Mölnlycke has committed to reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050. Specifically, the company has committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2050 compared to the 2021 base year, and to reducing Scope 3 GHG emissions by 97% per tonne of sold product within the same timeframe.*
“This validation represents a critical step in executing our strategy to drive decarbonisation of healthcare. Reaching net zero demands measurable action, close collaboration, and innovation across the entire value chain. Mölnlycke is fully committed to working with its partners, suppliers, and customers to drive progress and deliver concrete outcomes”, says Caterina Camerani, VP Sustainability at Mölnlycke.
The company is actively implementing initiatives to reach its near-term GHG emission reduction targets and achieved significant progress in 2024 with 100% of renewable electricity at all manufacturing sites and the headquarters, as well as a reduction of 40% in Scope 1 and 2 and 19% in Scope 3 GHG emissions** versus 2021 base year.
*The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks.
**Scope 3 GHG emissions from the relevant categories (1,3,4,5), as validated by SBTi for near-term targets.

About Science Based Targets initiative
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organisation that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. It develops standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050 at the latest. An SBTi validation means that the SBTi has reviewed and approved a company's climate targets, confirming they align with the latest climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
