Gothenburg, Sweden. 29 April 2024. Mölnlycke Health Care, a world leading MedTech company, has signed a long-term virtual Power Purchase Agreement (vPPA) with Neoen, a leading independent producer of renewable energy, to advance towards its target of 100% renewable electricity by the end of 2024. The agreement covers electricity consumption for all Mölnlycke sites located in the European Union, the region where the company has the highest manufacturing footprint, and is expected to cover 100% of electricity consumption from the sites in Finland, Denmark, Belgium and the Czech Republic. The electricity will come from Mutkalampi - the largest wind farm in Finland with a total capacity of 403.8 MW.

In addition, Mölnlycke has validated its intention to continue active sourcing of renewable electricity through 2030 with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

“This is a significant milestone in Mölnlycke’s commitment to halve scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, compared to 2021” said Caterina Camerani, VP Sustainability at Mölnlycke Health Care. “It propels us towards our vision of building a sustainable healthcare manufacturing ecosystem.”

Through the facilitation of renewable energy expansion and reducing greenhouse gas emissions Mölnlycke is taking action towards its commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative and demonstrates its alignment with 1.5°C trajectory recommended by the Paris Agreement.
