Monahans Business Bureau Launch - Powered by FreeAgent National event for business owners on 26 November 2012
Business owners will have the opportunity to pick the brains of tax, accounting, finance and business growth experts at the Monahans Business Bureau event on Monday 26 November 2012.
Taking place at STEAM, the Museum of the Great Western Railway, Swindon, the event comprises a complimentary breakfast and presentations by four leading business thinkers who will discuss how small businesses are changing and utilising new technology to thrive.
Visitors will be able to learn how cloud computing can give businesses a competitive edge by saving time and money and taking the hassle out of day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting tasks.
As well as seeing demonstrations of cloud computing, attendees will have the opportunity to pre-book free 10 minute consultations with Monahans’ specialists in areas such as HR, payroll, VAT, corporation tax, director remuneration and employee benefits.

The 10 minute consultation slots are available between 8.30am and 9.20am and from 11.30am, when the presentations conclude.
The speakers
Emma Jones
A former Arthur Anderson consultant and dotcom entrepreneur, Emma Jones founded Enterprise Nation, the website for home-based businesses, in 2006. Today, Enterprise Nation is a thriving community of over 75,000 people. Emma has written several books including Spare Room StartUp: How to start a business from home (2008) and Go Global: How to take your business to the world (2010). Emma was awarded an MBE for services to enterprise in June 2012. She is currently Campaign Director for StartUp Britain, the national initiative that she cofounded in 2011 to encourage more people to launch their own business.
Ed Molyneux
Ed Molyneux is the CEO and co-founder of FreeAgent, the award winning online accounting system for small businesses and freelancers. A former RAF pilot turned freelance IT consultant, Ed found the process of balancing his books using spreadsheets and traditional tools all too painful. He turned his attention to creating a simpler and more intuitive way for freelancers to manage their accounts – and FreeAgent went live in 2007. Five years on, FreeAgent is the market leader in UK online accounting, employs 50 people and has attracted investment from influential business figures on both sides of the Atlantic.
Simon Tombs
As Relationship Partner at Monahans, Simon Tombs oversees the audit and accounts services provided by the firm’s five offices across the west of England. Experienced in practice and within industry, Simon has worked across all areas of the accounting and auditing professions since qualifying 22 years ago. Memorable projects include advising the Government of Kuwait on a major acquisition and providing cash flow management and forecasting consultancy to the Rugby Football Union (RFU) in Twickenham. Simon draws on his varied and extensive experience to provide Monahans’ clients with practical and commercial advice.
Paul Briggs
Paul Briggs is Chief Executive of Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Group. He works to improve awareness and understanding of transnational business opportunities across Eastern Europe, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, India and the USA. As President of The Windsor Debates he also helps business owners deal with issues and opportunities impacting on the UK. Previously, Paul worked in hotel management and property management for the retail and hospitality sectors. He managed retail complexes for Hammerson plc and has worked with Ashley Associates on behalf of Dresdner Kleinwort Benson. Paul is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a fellow of the Royal Society of Health.
