Chris Huhne’s Energy Proposals already in place with the moneymaxim EnergyMonitor service
- Average EnergyMonitor customer saving £230 on energy costs
- Customers save time and effort checking energy prices as its done automatically for them
WOKINGHAM, BERKSHIRE, TUESDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER: The Energy Secretary Chris Huhne has said that he wants to help people save money by making it easier to spot cheaper deals and switch providers, as well as plans to ‘get tough’ on the big six energy companies - EDF, Scottish and Southern, Eon, British Gas, Scottish Power, and npower - who dominate the existing market.
One of the recommendations Mr. Huhne announced are plans to making it easier for consumers to find the best energy tariff available to them, as well as speeding up the process of switching between suppliers.
Money saving website moneymaxim.co.uk currently offers a free EnergyMonitor service already delivering many of the benefits Mr. Huhne is seeking.
Mark Bower, Managing Director of the website explains;
“We welcome the proposed plans put forward by Mr. Huhne as energy prices have risen by as much as 20 per cent in the last few months. As the days get shorter and the weather colder and price rises take effect only now will most of us begin to notice that our energy bills will increase considerably this winter.
“Our free independent energy monitoring service is designed for those wanting an impartial and independent way to keep an eye on their energy costs. Our customers let us know their tariff details and usage, and every four months we check they are still on the best tariff. If there are worthwhile savings to be made by switching we let them know it’s time to undertake a full comparison. We also make sure they are fully appraised of their options whenever a fixed term tariff expires.
On average our customers are saving over £230 per year on their energy bills, 40% more than the average customer switching supplier.* We know that our customers will save money by signing up, something that we think is significant at a time when many households are struggling to keep their fuel bills in check.
