Anonymous Donor Supports Montgomery College Graduate Transition and Challenge Programs
The Montgomery College Foundation recently received a special donation pledge from an anonymous donor to support two programs at Montgomery College over the next two years, the Graduate Transition Program and the Challenge Program.
The Graduate Transition Program, a two-year certificate program, offers students with developmental and intellectual disabilities a unique, interactive post-secondary learning environment where they can further their formal education as part of a custom-tailored learning community. Students in the program prepare to enter the workforce, connecting with partner organizations that place them in successful employment environments and Potomac Community Resources, Inc. provides the social, recreational and therapeutic programs
The Challenge Program, which serves more than 200 students each year, enables young people with cognitive disabilities to take individual courses to help them function more independently in their homes, at work and in the community. Courses focus on job skills, academic skills and/or enrichment activities.
The pledge provides a dollar-for-dollar matching gift, and the College’s foundation has launched a special matching challenge to support the programs, its first matching challenge donation campaign of the new fiscal year. Individuals can make gift donations immediately to support these programs online at www.montgomerycollege.edu/onlinegiving and note Graduate Transition Program and Challenge Program in the field marked “area of support.”
