Montgomery College to Commemorate Arab American Heritage Month with Events at All Three Campuses

Montgomery College’s 11th annual Arab American Heritage Month will highlight the diverse cultures of the world’s 23 Arab countries and the Arab American community. Throughout the month of April, over 25 events will explore the music, art, writing, politics, and culture of the modern and ancient Arab world.

All events are free and most are open to the public. Highlights include:

A presentation on “Islam and Hip Hop” featuring Amer Ahmed at 1 p.m. on April 20. in CM 211, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus.

A workshop titled "Who Do You Think I AM? A Discussion of Stereotyping-Origins and Implications--Personal, Political and Ethical” at 2 p.m. on April 21 in TC 232, Rockville Campus.

A musical performanceSufi Classical Fusion” featuring the Humayun Khan Ensemble at 8 p.m. on April 23 in the Music Building Recital Hall, Rockville Campus.

A special experienceWalk In My Shoes: Hijab Challenge” at 11 a.m. on April 24 in Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus (Building TBD).

A presentation on “Arab Cultural Artifacts: From Baghdad to MC" at 10 a.m., Germantown Campus (Building TBD).
