“People of Color and the US Criminal Justice System,” Community Forum at Montgomery College-Rockville, Dec. 10
Event Will Feature County Police Chief, Local Victim Rights Advocates
In observance of International Human Rights Day, Montgomery College will host a community forum titled “People of Color and the US Criminal Justice System” Wednesday, December 10, 2014. The event will take place on the Rockville Campus, located at 51 Mannakee Street, in the Technical Center, Room 136, and will run from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. For directions to the Rockville Campus, click here.
The panelists on the forum include:
- J. Thomas Manger, Montgomery County Chief of Police
- W. Greg Wims, President of the Victims Rights Foundation
- David Smith, Rockville Human Rights Commission
- Laura White, Organizational Development Specialist, Montgomery College
- Alonzo N. Smith (moderator), Professor of African American History, Montgomery College
The forum is sponsored by the Montgomery College Peace and Justice Studies Community, the Rockville Human Rights Commission, the Montgomery County Human Rights Commission and the Montgomery County Office of Human Rights. Montgomery College’s Office of Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management is co-sponsoring the event.

Human Rights Day is celebrated annually across the world on December 10. The date was chosen to honor the United Nations’ General Assembly's adoption and proclamation, December 10, 1948, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the first global enunciation of human rights and one of the first major achievements of the United Nations.
