On September 16, 1946, the first Montgomery College classes were held in the evenings at a local high school with a student body of 186 men and women. Today, the College has grown to a multi-campus institution and serves nearly 60,000 students a year, through both credit and noncredit programs, in more than 100 areas of study.

Montgomery College Requested an Increase of $15 Million, But the County Executive Recommends $3 Million This afternoon, Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett announced his funding recommendations for the Montgomery College fiscal year 2016 operating budget. New Student Trustee Named to Montgomery College Board

Montgomery College student Carlos Mejia-Ramos has been appointed by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley to serve on the Montgomery College Board of Trustees. Mejia-Ramos will serve one year as the student trustee. Mejia-Ramos, of Gaithersburg, is a general studies major at the Rockville Campus. He is working toward a political science degree by also taking classes at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. He has aspirations of attending law school. Montgomery College Trustees Adopt FY15 Operating Budget

The Montgomery College Board of Trustees adopted a fiscal year 2015 operating budget of $244.4 million on Monday, December 16, at its monthly meeting, that will bolster commitment to a strong local higher education option for all county residents—one that emphasizes access, affordability, excellence, and success. The budget, which will be presented to the Montgomery County Executive and Montgomery County Council in January, amounts to a 7.3 percent increase over last year’s FY14 operating budget.
