Moonworks Honored with Remodeling Magazine’s Big 50 Award
WOONSOCKET, RHODE ISLAND – 08/13/2010 – Moonworks, a local home improvement company based in Woonsocket with over 17 years of industry experience, has been named to Remodeling Magazine’s Annual Big 50 List. They are featured under the Business Savvy category, which recognizes remodelers with effective and established business practices.
Each year, REMODELING Magazine honors the owners of established, successful remodeling companies that exemplify quality, professionalism and integrity. These companies are nominated by editors, columnists, industry leaders and their peers. The winners are chosen based on strong financial performance, years in business, leadership, and their reputation and service within the industry and their community.

Back in 1993, Moonworks was solely a gutter protection company operating under the brand name Gutter Helmet. Jim Moon sold and installed Gutter Helmet from his apartment building garage. “I would sell on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and then install it on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with only a van and a ladder;” explains Jim Moon “Business quickly became overwhelming so I would hire an installer and then a sales person as needed.” Gutter Helmet kept growing rapidly, moving first into a 200 sq. ft office in the old Fleet Building in Woonsocket and then into a 2,500 sq. ft building on Broad Street in Cumberland.
In 2004, Gutter Helmet moved into its current home, a 10,000 sq. ft. building located in Woonsocket, RI and noticed that the gutter protection industry was maturing. Matt Weiner, VP of Operations, adds “We saw business begin to soften and knew we needed a diversification strategy.” Using their marketing and home improvement knowledge, they added Renewal by Andersen® Replacement Windows and Doors, Mastic® home siding, GAF-ELK® roofing, Owens Corning® insulation and Repower Home™ renewable energy. In turn, they added seasoned professionals with years of experience in these product lines. To celebrate the fact that they had become a full service home improvement company, the name was changed to Moonworks.
