The UK Home Office (1) has appointed Mott MacDonald to provide multi-disciplinary professional services under a four-year property estate framework agreement.

Occupying a large and diverse estate which includes a wide range and size of facilities across the UK, the Home Office framework agreement includes new-build projects, fit out and refurbishment projects, major maintenance, and temporary accommodation. It also includes specialist construction works including building engineering services, CCTV and alarm systems, and lift refurbishment and renewal. Projects using this framework will typically have a construction value between £150k and £2.5million.

Mott MacDonald in its role as project manager and designer will cover a wide spectrum including architecture, building surveying, land and quantity surveying, civil, structural and fire engineering, town planning and health and safety. The consultancy’s first appointment covers the installation of security scanning infrastructure at UK entry points.

Alasdair Thompson, Mott MacDonald’s project director said: “This framework will be a continuation of a strong working relationship with the Home Office as we have worked with them for many years. For example we were client’s engineer for the Border Agency’s headquarters Vulcan House in Sheffield, which won numerous awards and is one of the highest BREEAM scoring buildings in the UK. We also provided technical advice and project monitoring for a short term residential facility for families and children in West Sussex.”

The framework will run for a minimum of 4 years.
