Mott MacDonald appoints David Tarrant as director of highways team
Mott MacDonald, the global management, engineering and development consultancy, has appointed David Tarrant as director of its highways business. He will be responsible for leading and managing the consultancy's broad range of activities in the UK and abroad including policy, funding, highway design and construction, asset management and operations, along with various specialist activities such as intelligent transport systems.
David has worked in the highways sector for over 30 years. At Hampshire County Council, he was deputy director of environment and led on Hampshire’s local transport plan as well as issues such as intelligent transport systems, climate change, development planning and environment strategy. Before moving to Mott MacDonald, he was a partner and main board director at Gifford consultants, where he was responsible for executive decisions on investment, business development and marketing as well as the company’s engineering design business.
Commenting on his appointment David said: "Despite the challenges the highways sector faces, new opportunities are developing within the UK market as well as internationally. This is a key time for the highways business and I look forward to steering Mott MacDonald to achieve continued success."
David was President of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation from 2008 to 2009 and is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Management and a special honorary member of the Association of Directors of Environment Economy Planning and Transport.
