Mott MacDonald appoints new leader of policy, sustainability and climate change
Mott MacDonald, a leading global management, engineering and development consultancy, has appointed Dr Andrew Heather as leader of its new policy, sustainability and climate change (PSCC) team.
Sustainability and climate change are important drivers in Mott MacDonald’s business around the world. With corporate and public awareness of these issues increasing, the consultancy is continuously developing its services and skills to help in strategies for adaptation, mitigation and institutional reform to respond to these challenges.
The PSCC team provides leadership, focus and a platform for the integration of Mott MacDonald’s advisory services on these multidisciplinary issues. It already includes exciting international projects, such as a climate change resilience project in Tajikistan for the Asian Development Bank, and the provision of ongoing corporate sustainability advice to Anglian Water.
Originally joining Mott MacDonald in 2007, Andrew is a chartered environmentalist with a background in agriculture, water and wastewater planning and regulation. He has led the consultancy’s water regulation team, where his projects have included helping regulators with price reviews, carrying out water industry research, helping water companies to develop their planning methods and advising international clients on regulatory capacity building. He has also led work building carbon models and was a member of the South West Regional Development Agency’s special panel on carbon reduction.
Andrew’s appointment strengthens the links between regulation and risk in the management of water security with environmental policy advice, sustainability and climate change issues. The team will cover the UK and international markets and offer leading edge advisory services to public and private sector clients and funding agencies.
Commenting on Andrew’s appointment, Mott MacDonald’s water and environment divisional manager Ian Allison said: “I am very excited about this appointment as Andrew brings a strong focus to the interesting and challenging opportunities which could potentially have a profound effect on the way society develops. Andrew’s appointment will forge ever greater levels of co-operation across our business as we drive forward on some of the key issues the developed world is facing today.”
