Notes to editors

1. Details of the Power Industry Turkey conference can be found at http://www.powerindustry-events.com/Turkey.

2. In 2010 the UK and Turkish governments established a UK-Turkey CEO Forum aiming to increase business collaboration among companies of both countries.

A number of working groups were created in several emerging sectors. One of these groups is the Energy Working Group which was split into four sub-groups: power, natural gas, renewables and biofuels.

A handbook, which is the outcome from the Power Working Group, attended by leading energy business companies from both the UK and Turkey, recognises the significance of the power generation market in Turkey and the need for guidance in assisting its development through private finance. This sub-group was led by Mott MacDonald (UK) and Borusan Holding (Turkey). Other members included: Atil Paydas AECOM, Akbank, Calik Holding, HSBC Bank AS Koç Holding AS, Marsh Insurance Sabanci Holding AS and Rolls Royce Energy Zorlu Enerji.
