Los Angeles based Multeepurpose Clothing Co. is excited to announce the 12th of December as the date of their event celebrating a group of young teen designers from Central Los Angeles. Multeepurpose, which produces a collection of socially-conscious graphic tops, will team up with Central City Community Outreach and Works of Art Hair Salon to offer at-risk teens a behind-the-scenes, hands-on opportunity designing producing and modeling their own apparel product.

The LA Central City Community Outreach program aims to break the cycle of poverty through educational development and family empowerment. Their staff and volunteers offer daily after-school support, tutoring and mentorship serving more than 650 children and families throughout the year. The project will also include the Peacock Foundation, an organization providing accessible, engaging programs, as well as emotional and mental therapy support to neglected and abandoned youth.

Beginning at 2pm on Sunday December 12th, the teens will arrive at Works of Art Hair Salon in Los Feliz to receive complimentary makeup and hair by Art Cardiel and his team of skilled stylists, a rare treat! They will be the center of attention during a photo shoot taking place in the salon. Modeling the designs that they created, the world of Fashion will come full circle as the young designers see the completion of their line, soon to be included in Multeepurpose’s 2011 kid’s line. True to the Multeepurpose philosophy, you can change the world, one shirt at a time. Members of the press are welcome to attend.

In addition to the photo shoot, live entertainment will be provided during the shoot and continuing on into the night. Bravo Kirkland a R&B/Hip Hop artist who has been on stage with the likes of Lil Wayne and other will perform live during the event. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided. After the shoot comes to a close, and the teens head home, the event will open to an audience of LA tastemakers and trendsetters as well as influential board members from othernon-profit groups. It will be a great opportunity for the community to learn about these great organizations and companies coming together to make a difference.

In Los Angeles County, more than 80,000 people are homeless, thousands of which are children. Many of these children turn to drugs or end up in gangs. Fewer than 25% of them will graduate from high school. “Anything we can do to enrich the lives of children and teens at risk, and end the cycle of poverty continuing into adulthood, is worthy of our support,” says Multeepurpose VP of Marketing and Production Shana Dysert.

Back in June, Dysert and the rest of the Multee-team presented the project to the children (ages 13 – 18). “This project is perfectly in sync with Multeepurpose’s ‘activism’ philosophy. Hopefully, we can inspire these teens to realize the many possibilities available to them at this crucial time in their lives as they near adulthood.”
