Multiconsult is the main designer on the Railway project Furnesbakken - Stange

Multiconsult (Oslo: MULTI) has been selected as main designer for the new double track railway project Furnesbakken – Stange in Stange municipality within Innlandet county, Norway. Hæhre Entreprenør AS has been nominated as the preferred contractor with Multiconsult as the main designer.

The new railway is a part of the InterCity line Oslo – Hamar and will contribute to reduced travel time to less than one hour between the two cities with two trains per hour, and in addition increased capacity for long-distance trains including freight train transport.

Multiconsult will be responsible for the detailed design, overseeing the construction of a 11.9-kilometre double track railway including a new railway station at Tangen. In addition, the project includes Tangen Railway Bridge and 11 other structures, heavy mass excavation, re-routing of existing roads and extensive water- and sewage works.

Construction is planned to commence in 2023, with completion anticipated by 2026. The detailed design will start immediately. The total value of the construction contract, including detailed design, amounts to approximately NOK 1 400 million. The end client for the project is Bane NOR.
