New touch screen: window to the future Swedish flat monitor manufacturer MultiQ Products AB is launching its 15" MQ158E Touch screen. The new product opens the door for MultiQ´s entry into the point-of-sales market. MultiQ´s new monitor is an appealing option for checkout counters, manufacturing facilities and shipping applications. Thanks to its robust aluminum housing instead of plastic, the monitor is perfect for public settings. The product represents a new advance on the customized monitors that MultiQ has sold in Norway this fall for use at SAS Airlines check-in counters. According to Martin Gullberg, Nordic marketing manager, "We have had our eye on this segment for a while and have concluded that it is starting to take off, particularly in Europe. For instance, we have started a major effort to attract the interest of international airports." The new monitor is based on the Elo Accu Touch resistant touch technology. In other words, a user can make screen selections with objects such as his or her own finger (gloved or not), a stylus or a credit card. In addition to convenience, AccuTouch offers the advantages of accuracy and reliability. The screen does not have to be re-calibrated on a regular basis, nor can it be damaged by moisture or coffee spills. Either by direct pressure on a particular part of the screen or by drag-and-drop, the user retrieves precisely the information he or she is seeking. The screen has been designed to withstand 35 million selections at every point. MultiQ expects deliveries of the MQ158E Touch to begin in December.
