On 28 April the Metro Group opened its first Future Store in Rheinberg, Germany. The shop is at the leading edge with regard to the employment of new technology for check-out service, logistics and general service. New technology for retail trade is being tested and developed in the fully functional shop. The new shop concept will afford advantages to both the customer and the industry. Customer usefulness will increase as the goods will be more easily accessible, the service more personal and buying made simpler. At the same time the new technology will lead to lowered costs for the shops as the procedures become more efficient. ”Nearly 40 businesses from various sectors have come together in order to propel the retail development further”, says Zygmunt Mierdorf, member of the Metro Group board of directors. ” MultiQ is proud to be a part of this exciting project. Through the cooperation with Metro Group we are afforded the opportunity to strengthen our trademark in Europe, and first and foremost in Germany”, says Jonas Wästberg, MD of MultiQ. MultiQ’s screens are eminently suited to the retail industry.
