Scandinavian Startup PicPac Sets Sights On $1 Trillion Business Travel Industry with Innovative New Packing Solution for Men: The SHIRT PAC
Developped by 63 year old Norwegian female entrepreneur, the SHIRT PAC is a clever packing solution designed with the business and leisure traveller in mind: Helping men neatly fold and keep their shirts wrinkle-free during travel. Ready-to-wear to their next business meeting upon arrival! No more iron, no more fuss, no more hassle. Making travel that little bit easier, that tad more pleasant.
A Norwegian based travel accessories company is expanding into new territory with the launch of a crowdfunding campaign on Mums Mean Business to raise funds for its third innovative product - The SHIRT PAC. Designed with the business and leisure traveller in mind, the new product from PicPac is a clever packing solution that helps men neatly fold and pack your shirts for a wrinkle free finish upon arrival at their destination. Blending chic Scandinavian design with intelligent practicality, the brand is committed to designing smart packing solutions for the smart traveller.
Founded in 2011 by 61 year old entrepreneur Anne Gunnæs, the SHIRT PAC is the brand’s latest intuitive idea which presents a practical and time saving solution to the age old challenge of keeping shirts smooth, smart and crease free while travelling. Ready-to-wear-upon arrival. Using a folding tray assistant, users simply fold, pack and travel with the peace of mind that their shirts will arrive in pristine condition. The SHIRT PAC’s flexible design makes room for up to 3 folded shirts. Silk lined interior covers ensure the shirt is well protected while a hidden tie and cufflink compartment offers travellers the ultimate in on-the-road organisation. The SHIRT PAC’s discreet branding, in-flight inspired seat belt strap and lightweight construction provide the finishing design touches to the smart design.
With Global Business Travel Association experts predicting that the business travel market is set to surpass US$1 trillion in 2014, packing made easy products such as the SHIRT PAC are well positioned for instant success. With a Bachelor’s degree in Business & Administration, Management studies and an extensive background in executive finance roles, Gunnæs is equipped with the knowledge, expertise and experience to launch her brand onto the global stage.
Anne Gunnæs, PicPac founder said, “With the development of the SHIRT PAC we have our sights set firmly on the business travel market. It’s a market opportunity that we cannot afford to ignore and I believe that the SHIRT PAC will be our key to international expansion. But before we can get there, we hope to successfully raise the funds needed through our crowdfunding campaign on Mums Mean Business. The cash injection will help us bring the SHIRT PAC into production and launch it onto the international market.”
As a website dedicated to helping ‘mumpreneurs’ raise funds to kick-start innovative business ideas, Mums Mean Business was the ideal platform for Gunnæs and her company. Yet as a mother to three and grandmother to six, Gunnæs represents a new breed of businesswoman – the ‘grey entrepreneur.’ The trend is rapidly gaining momentum across the globe, with recent research from the Kauffman Foundation revealing that in 2012, 23.4% of all new US businesses were founded by people aged 55-64. When compared to 1996 stats, this represents a rise of 14.3%. As a successful ‘encore entrepreneur’ continuing to expand her company, Gunnæs is an inspirational role model for any ambitious baby boomer thinking about starting up a business in their golden years.
PicPac was bought to life after years of working and living abroad and experiencing first-hand the challenges of packing and unpacking. After teaming up with Oslo based branding and product design consultancy WORK, Gunnæs successfully launched two products designed to make travel that little bit easier. Crafted from lightweight machine washable soft polyester, the ShuPac is designed to separate footwear while the ZipPac is ideal for storing underwear, socks and other small items that get lost in the depths of a suitcase or backpack. Smart, simple and easy to use, PicPac products are a must have accessory for any contemporary traveller.
The SHIRT PAC crowdfunding campaign which kicked off on September 12th on Mums Mean Business, will run for a whirlwind 30 days. During this time, PicPac hopes to raise 7,500 euros in order to see the SHIRT PAC delivered in time for the Christmas gift-shopping season. The SHIRT PAC will be offered at a special discounted price of €45 – a 20% reduction off it’s intended retail price. The time limited offer will only be available to backers of it’s crowdfunding campaign on Mums Mean Business.
