Cooling of gas turbines for SEK 17,6 million Munters has been awarded a contract for manufacturing and installing TURBIdek evaporative coolers at Savannah Electric and Power Company, USA. The contract value is SEK 17,6 million, and is the largest single order ever received in the field of gas turbine inlet air cooling. - We are very pleased that our efforts in the growing market of gas turbine inlet air cooling continues to be successful, says Lennart Evrell, CEO of the Munters Group. - This is an example of a promising new application area for Munters technology and we expect a continues good growth in the field of gas turbine inlet cooling. Denis Hill, Systems Division Sales & Marketing Manager Munters US continues: - Deregulation of the domestic US electric power generation and distribution industry, and the present low levels of power reserves are forcing our customers to produce power more efficiently, and evaporative cooling is an attractive way of increasing power output. The power output and efficiency of gas turbines are strongly dependent on the intake air conditions. A decrease of the intake air temperature increases the power output of the gas turbine. Evaporation is a natural, environmentally friendly and a very economic means of cooling the intake air of gas turbines. Cooler, denser air increases the output of gas turbines, and Munters TURBIdek systems can increase output by as much as 10%.
