Munters contributes to cleaner water in the UK Munters has been awarded a contract to supply its BIOdek® media for wastewater treatment to United Utilities, a major provider of water and wastewater services in the UK. Munters BIOdek® media will be installed in more than 20 of United Utilities water treatment plants during 2003 and 2004. Between 2000 and 2005 United Utilities is investing more than GBP 3 billion in water and wastewater quality improvements in the North West UK - the largest program of its kind in the country. The total contract value for Munters is GBP 3.4 million. Munters' BIOdek® media is a key component in the biological treatment of wastewater. Nature's own way of purifying oceans, lakes and streams is through interaction between water, air and microorganisms. Munters' wastewater treatment technology functions in the same way. The process converts soluble components of wastewater to insoluble components which can be removed, allowing the final treated water to be discharged into rivers or into the sea.
