Munters received order for SEK 4,5 million for pre cooling of gas turbines Munters has signed a major contract with ABB Power Generation in Switzerland, for manufacturing and installing of evaporative pre coolers at Burgan Power Station, Kentucky, USA. The contract value is SEK 4,5 million. "This is an example of a promising new application area for Munters technology and we expect a continues good growth in the field of gas turbine air inlet cooling" says Lennart Evrell, CEO of the Munters Group. " Cooler, denser air increases the output of gas turbines, and Munters systems can increase output by as much as 10%". The power output and efficiency of gas turbines are strongly dependent on the intake air conditions. A decrease of the intake air temperature increases the power output of the gas turbine. Evaporation is a natural, environmentally friendly and a very economic means of cooling the intake air of gas turbines. Specials of this job is frost protection, with automatic shutdown, emptying of the system, and automatic start, depending on ambient temperatures. Also, an airlock is included for the pre cooler in order to make it accessible during operation, without letting ambient air in, which is not clean. The pads are made from GLASdek®.
