Munters Zeol Supplies Leading Semiconductor Manufacturer with Air Pollution Control Equipment Munters Zeol, a division of the Munters Group, has announced the sale of air pollution control equipment worth SEK 12 million to a world leading Texas-based semiconductor manufacturer. Munters Zeol will supply three rotor concentrators utilizing Munters' patented HoneyCombe wheel to remove low concentrations of solvent vapors. A wide variety of manufacturing processes, including spray painting for automotive and aerospace, semiconductor manufacturing and wood finishing, use solvents that generate exhaust air laden with environmentally harmful solvent vapors, so called VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds). Removing these organic vapors is a costly process because of their low concentration in the exhaust air stream. With Munters' Zeol systems, manufacturers significantly reduce their costs for removing VOC's. "The manufacturing of semiconductors involves numerous steps where solvents are used. The resulting exhaust from semiconductor manufacturing is typically a high volume flow with low concentrations of VOCs, which is ideally suited for the Munters Rotor Concentrator," says Peter Krenitsky, Sr. Sales Engineer at Munters Zeol Munters' system is based on Munters HoneyCombe rotor technology. The air stream to be treated is passed through a Munters Honey Combe rotor treated with proprietary zeolites, which adsorb the VOC molecules. In a regeneration section, the collected VOC's are removed and sent to a final treatment unit, typically an oxidizer, or a recovery process. The system in Texas will remove 98% of the VOCs in the exhaust. The system has built-in redundancy such that if one rotor concentrator is taken off- line, the other two will automatically increase their processing capacity to treat the entire exhaust flow, so that manufacturing operations can continue uninterrupted. Zeol rotor concentrators - VOC abatement systems - are fabricated in the Munters manufacturing facility in Massachusetts, USA under ISO 9001 certification. They are suitable for indoor and outdoor installation and shipped anywhere in the world.
