Green cable channel created by independent energy provider recognized for programming excellence

Stamford, CT – April 13, 2011 – Not too shabby for the new kid on the block.  After only five months of programming, MXenergyTV, or MXTV for short, was recently recognized as a winner in multiple categories as part of the 32nd annual Telly Awards.

The Telly Awards honor the very best in local, regional and cable programming and commercials, as well as the finest video and film productions.  More than 500 industry professionals judged the more than 13,00o entries from all 50 states and five continents.  The panel ultimately awarded Bronze Tellys to MXTV in the categories of Social Responsibility, Information, and Editing.

“When we created MXTV just a few short months ago, I don’t think any of us dreamed we would be able to achieve such a tremendous honor so quickly,” says Marjorie Kass, MXenergy Managing Director and host of MXTV. “We are so honored to receive these awards, particularly in the category of Social Responsibility, since this is at the heart of all that we do at MXTV.”

MXenergy, one of the nation’s leading independent energy providers, created MXTV in the fall of 2010 as a way to educate and inform the public about the issues of conservation, sustainability and green living.  MXTV is an on demand cable channel which can be found on Cablevision iO Channel 654 in the Northeast United States.  The channel’s flagship program, “Attainable Sustainables,” has covered such topics as “Green Building”, home energy audits, recycling, the latest in green technology, and developments by local businesses and schools.

“As I continually state, we are so much more than just an energy provider,” says Jeffrey Mayer, MXenergy President and CEO. “MXTV is a prime example of that fact.  We are fully committed to helping people live a more sustainable lifestyle and MXTV is one way we can reach people and provide the necessary information for them to be able to do just that.”

Programming for 2011 is already underway with multiple segments covering topics such as solar panels on school rooftops, how college students are promoting sustainability and how one owner of an electric car is getting “plugged in” to saving money on gas.  Kass says she is excited about things to come.

“Obviously we are extremely thankful for our production partners, A-Ray Productions, and the excellent work they have brought to the table.  If this is what we have been able to accomplish in such a short time, I am incredibly excited and optimistic to see what the 2011 season will bring.”
