Asian Customer Orders Pair of Micronic Tools for TFT-LCD and Color Filter Photomask Manufacturing Taby, Sweden - July 30, 2004 - Micronic Laser Systems AB (Stockholmsborsen's Attract 40: MICR) today announced that an Asian photomask manufacturer has placed an order for an LRS15000 series laser pattern generator and an MMS15000 mask metrology system. The systems will be used in the production of advanced photomasks for TFT-LCDs and color filters. Both tools will be shipped during the second half of 2005. "Recent orders validate the market's confidence in utlizing Micronic's LRS15000 series pattern generators and MMS15000 mask metrology system as a team for advanced TFT-LCD and other applications," said Sven Lofquist, Micronic president and CEO. " These tools form a powerful combination that provides manufacturers with all the capabilities that they need to write and measure leading-edge photomasks." The top-of-the-line LRS15000 series pattern generators feature a large stage capable of writing photomasks for large, seventh-generation TFT-LCDs. The MMS15000 is a registration measurement system for TFT-LCD photomasks. The system is used to verify that the pattern placement on large area photomasks matches the high accuracy demands of advanced displays, a critical requirement in the production of advanced LCDs. The MMS15000 is based on the same production-proven technology as Micronic's laser pattern generators. The system offers registration measurement accuracy of better than 100 nm and is capable of performing measurements on photomask as large as 1300 x 1500 mm.
