Asian Customer Places Repeat Order for Two Micronic Tools Taby, Sweden - November 3, 2004 - Micronic Laser Systems AB (Stockholmsborsen's Attract 40: MICR) today announced receipt of a repeat order from an Asian customer. The order includes two tools - an LRS series pattern generation tool for TFT-LCD photomask production, and an MMS15000 photomask metrology system. The systems are scheduled for delivery during 2005. "We are in the midst of a huge technology shift from cathode ray tubes to flat panel displays," said Sven Lofquist, Micronic president and CEO. "Consumer demand for LCD-TV continues to fuel a surge in manufacturing. Analysts believe that the growth of LCDs will continue - by 2008, LCDs are expected to make up 30 percent of all displays." LCD (liquid crystal display) is the most common technology for flat panel displays and the basis for the fast-growing high-definition television displays. There are two technologies, passive and active LCD. The TFT-LCD is an active LCD providing better image quality and faster response than a passive LCD. The active LCDs have a thin film transistor (TFT) in each pixel. Company contact: Ulf Sundstrom Sr VP, Corporate Sales .
