CEO comments
During the fourth quarter we delivered three mask writers, which together with continued strong sales of surface mount equipment, resulted in strong figures in both sales and profit for the fourth quarter and for the full year. Also positive is the strong order intake, which indicates that the market has turned upward, and that we are a strong supplier to the electronics industry through our offering within pattern generators and surface mount equipment.

The development of the new product for advanced electronic packaging, the direct writer LDI, has been intensive. SEK 137 million, or 55 percent of R&D expenditures in 2010, was related to LDI. The LDI project is a technological challenge. In the fourth quarter we reached a key milestone with the delivery of the first LDI system. This is now being tested by one of our cooperation partners for decisions on future production. After qualification further sales are expected starting in 2012.

2010 has been a busy year for building a strong Group for the future, a Group that through its expertise in technology and business delivers cost-effective and innovative production solutions to customers. We have integrated two market leaders in their respective part of the market into one company and created opportunities for a sustainably profitable business.

Demand for display photomasks remains strong, with many new applications on the consumer side. Capacity utilization is high among the photomask makers.

The market for surface mount equipment has shown strong growth. Sales of machines in the fourth quarter were 111 percent higher than in the same period last year and total order intake for the full year exceeded last year by 80 percent.

Aftermarket business is growing and is becoming more profitable within both business areas.
