Micronic expands service organisation - inauguration of new premises in Japan Micronic's "domestic market" in Japan accounted for 71 per cent of the company's total invoiced sales in 1998, that is MSEK 187. Of the 46 systems the company has installed to date, 17 are in Japan. In view of this, and the market's continued confidence, Micronic is building up its venture in Japan by taking on more staff and moving to larger premises in the centre of Tokyo. "We have increased the staffing level from five to eleven people and we are now moving to new, considerably larger premises as one part of Micronic's strategy of raising the level of service and customer support on the Japanese market. The new office is located in the heart of Tokyo and is closer to key customers and Hakuto, our dealer," says Magnus René, customer service manager. The large number of systems now installed is creating a valuable after sales market for service, upgrading and replacement equipment. This is becoming an important part of Micronic's business, and accounted for some 7 per cent of total turnover in 1998. "Our goal is to satisfy current and future need for laser equipment for the manufactu-ring of photomasks and to have a service organisation to support our long-term business relationships in Japan and elsewhere," says Magnus René. Micronic Laser Systems in brief Micronic Laser Systems is a Swedish high-tech company engaged in the development, manufacturing and marketing of a series of extremely accurate laser writers for the production of photomasks. Micronic is an expanding company and has now 154 employees. In September 1997 Micronic was awarded the prestigious "Sweden - Japan Trade Award 1996" by The Swedish Trade Council.
