Micronic expands the Omega6000 product line to support the semiconductor industry from 0.5 µm to 0.15 µm Täby, Sweden, September 14, 2000 - Micronic Laser Systems AB (OM Stockholm Exchange: MICR), who is at the forefront in semiconductor and display laser pattern generators for the production of photomasks to the world wide electronic industries, today at the Bacus semiconductor conference in Monterey, California, launches the complete Omega6000 product line. Micronic also presents the long-term laser patterning solution - the SLM (Spatial Light Modulator) technology developed by Micronic in partnership with Fraunhofer IMS. This revolutionary technology will fulfill the requirements for several semiconductor nodes. The Micronic Omega6000 product line of laser pattern generators offers state-of-the-art photomask making capability for technology nodes down to 0.15 µm. The successful design and functionality is based on the experience of more than a decade of shipping Micronic laser pattern generators. The Micronic Omega6000 includes four different tools that give our customers the capability to optimize their production capacity at a highly competitive cost of ownership. The Omega6000 operates at 413 nm wavelength and prints on the commonly used i-line resists. The laser pattern generators include the Micronic Maestro that is a family of job management and data pre-processing systems. It incorporates the JobQueue functionality, which allows for efficient job management of one or several Omega6000 tools, further optimizing the tool utilization in the mask shop. Micronic offers upgrades within the Omega6000 product line, thus allowing the mask shop to extend their capability when their order mix develops. Furthermore, second layer alignment capability for phase-shift masks is offered as an option. The Micronic Omega6000 product line also has data path expansion options available to allow production of extremely dense data without throughput loss. Micronic Laser Systems in brief Micronic Laser Systems is a Swedish high-tech company engaged in the development, manufacture and marketing of a series of extremely accurate laser pattern generators for the production of photomasks. The technology involved is known as microlithography. Micronic's systems are used by the world's leading electronics companies in the manufacture of television and computer displays, semiconductor circuits and semiconductor packaging components. Micronic is located in Täby, north of Stockholm and at present has subsidiaries in the United States and Japan and a service office in Taiwan. Micronic, with net sales of SEK 213 million (1999), has around 230 employees worldwide.
