Micronic Launches into New Market with First Order for TFT-LCD Mask Metrology System Täby, Sweden - October 23, 2003 - Micronic Laser Systems AB (Stockholmsbörsen's Attract 40: MICR), a leading manufacturer of laser pattern generation equipment to the display and semiconductor industries, today announced it has expanded its range of products to address a new market with a TFT-LCD mask metrology system, the MMS15000. Micronic has received the first order from a Japanese customer and expects delivery to take place during the second half of 2004. "There has long been a strong customer requirement for very accurate registration measurement to complement Micronic's advanced pattern generators. We have therefore decided to expand our product line to include advanced metrology systems," said Sven Löfquist, president and CEO of Micronic Laser Systems AB. "While the market for these systems is not as large as the market for pattern generators, we believe they are an excellent complement to our product line. The introduction of the MMS15000 reflects part of our ongoing effort to leverage our technical competence and know-how within the display area in order to reach a larger market within our existing customer base." The MMS15000 is a registration measurement system for TFT-LCD photomasks. The system is used to verify that the pattern placement among the different photomasks matches the high accuracy demands of advanced displays. The MMS15000, based on the same technology as Micronic's pattern generators, features registration measurement accuracy of better than 100 nanometer and is capable of performing measurements on photomasks as large as 1300 x 1500 mm. About Micronic Laser Systems AB Micronic Laser Systems is a Swedish high-tech company engaged in the development, manufacture and marketing of a series of extremely accurate laser pattern generators for the production of photomasks.
