Micronic receives second order for a laser writer for production of world's largest photomasks Micronic has received its second order for a laser writer for the production of PDP display screens. The order has been placed by a customer in Korea and is worth around MSEK 30. The machine is expected to be shipped during the third quarter of 1999. "This order strengthens Micronic's position on the growing PDP market," says Ulf Sundström, sales manager. The PDP (Plasma Display Panel) is a type of flat-screen display screen that can be manufactured in very large dimensions of 40-70" across the diagonal, while still being relatively thin - approx. 100 mm. Plasma displays are primarily used for flat large-screen TVs, known as "TV on the wall".
