According to recent rumours, it has been reported that Ryan Reynolds has bought a 4-bedroom £ 1.5 million house in Marford, around five miles from Wrexham. This news comes after Reynolds and his friend - It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star, Rob McElhenney, took over Wrexham AFC back in November 2020.

Local residents have been raving about the reported news on a regional Facebook group, with one resident joking about whether Reynolds would prefer shopping at the Co-op or the Spar.

The small village, which sits between Rossett and Gresford, has been featured in several articles stating that it's one of the most expensive areas to live in the region. According to locals, Reynolds has scooped up the poshest house on the street.

After hearing this news, MyJobQuote's property expert, Thomas Goodman, decided to take a look at some of the other elite homes that have sold in North Wales over the past year to see how Reynolds's home may compare to these. Here’s what he found…

The Most Expensive Homes Sold In North Wales Last Year and How These Compare to Ryan Reynold’s New Marford Home

According to Daily Post, there were just five properties sold in North Wales for over £ 1.5 million last year. Two of them were located in Trearddur Bay, two on the Llyn Peninsula, and one in Barmouth.

Here’s a list of the top five most expensive homes sold in North Wales last year:

  • £2,450,000 – Gwyndy, Lon Penrhyn Garw in Trearddur Bay, Anglesey, sold on September 30th 2022.
  • £2,050,000 – Fron y Graig, Ravenspoint Road in Trearddur Bay, Anglesey, sold on February 23rd 2022.
  • £2,000,000 – Seagulls, High Street in Abersoch, Gwynedd, sold on March 9th 2022.
  • £2,000,000 – Coesfaen in Barmouth, Gwynedd, sold on March 9th 2022.
  • £1,600,000 – Cerrig Gleision in Nefyn, Gwynedd, sold on October 27th 2022.

Gwyndy Lon Penrhyn Garw, Treaddur Bay

Gwyndy Lon Penrhyn Garw is a detached house with 2,690 square feet of floor space. Built in 1996 – 2002, it’s a modern property with a lot to offer. The home sits in a corner with plenty of surrounding land. It’s situated close to the edge of the cliffs, offering beautiful views of Treardurr Bay and the Irish Sea.

Fron y Graig, Ravenspoint Road

Fron y Graig is an 8-bedroom detached house and is ranked as the most expensive property in the postcode. It is a timeless seaside home with gorgeous coastal views. With its traditional appearance and stone features on the outside, it's a truly unique property.

Seagulls, High Street

Seagulls is a gorgeous bespoke 5-bedroom home located on the village's High Street. The property was previously occupied by a bed and breakfast, which was demolished during the new property's construction. With its elevated position, the property has magnificent panoramic views of the Cambrian range, Bae Ceredigion, and Ynysoedd Tudwal. It’s a gorgeous, modern property with a beautifully unique appearance.

Coesfaen, Barmouth

Coesfaen is a beautiful, traditional estate that dates back to around 1865. The home is known as The Clock House as it features a gorgeous clock tower in the centre. This Grade II Victorian Gothic home is situated in a fantastic position close to the mouth of the Mawddach estuary between the Cader Idris Range and the Snowdonia peaks. This property is truly one of a kind and certainly something special.

Cerrig Gleision, Nefyn

Cerrig Gleision is a beautiful property that offers a large plot of land in a dramatic spot on the edge of the Llyn Peninsula. With private access to the beach below, this home has plenty to offer. It has been renovated in recent years to modernise it with large windows allowing a lot of light to enter. With a balcony off the master bedroom and a seating area at the edge of the headland, this property is absolutely serene.

How These Properties Compare to Ryan Reynolds’ Welsh Home

When we look at the top 5 most expensive homes sold in North Wales last year, we can see that each one has unique selling points that make them a desirable place to live.

We don’t currently have a lot of information about the home Reynolds has purchased. However, rumours claim that it is a 4-bedroom detached property and is seen by locals as being the poshest house on the street.

This may mean Reynolds' home is smaller than the other homes on our list since it only boasts 4 bedrooms. However, without knowing the exact property, it's difficult to determine the amount of footage in the home.

The village of Marford is a very quaint area with just two pubs and one Co-Op shop. Locals enjoy the peace and quiet that the small village has to offer. With traditional architecture throughout, the town is a very picturesque setting. This differs from the majority of the homes in our list, which are situated in coastal towns or on cliff edges.

Despite not knowing a lot about the property, we're sure Reynolds will enjoy spending time in the small village, and it seems locals are excited about the possibility of bumping into the celebrity in their home town.
