Small Publisher Advocates a New Approach and Puts Their Readers First
Edison, nj, October 26, 2010: Buddhapuss Ink LLC threw away the old publishing handbook and was founded with a mission to put the reader first and that’s just what they aim to do in their first YA Mystery Short Story Competition. Open to all English-speaking writers, each entry that meets the submission guidelines will be read and rated by independent judges on two panels that are made up entirely by readers who love the genre.
“Our informal surveys have shown that readers most often make their reading selections based on recommendations from friends, family, peers, and online reviewers. We are passionate about putting our readers first and can think of no better way to do this than to allow them to have a say in what we publish.” stated MaryChris Bradley, Publisher of the fledgling house. “We want to involve those readers in the decision-making process. For this competition we will accomplish that by having the YA Book Blogger and the YA Teen Panels choose the top twenty entries.”
The YA Book Blogger Panel is composed of some of the best Book Bloggers on the web. Passionate about the YA market, they spend untold hours reading, reviewing, and promoting books written for the YA audience.
The YA Teen Panel is made up of teens (aged 13-19) from across the US who were nominated by teachers, librarians, and book industry professionals. All are avid readers.
“Only after the top 20 entries have been chosen by these two panels—composed entirely of readers—will the Editorial Review Panel make the final selections.”
Submissions are being accepted through December 31, 2010. The Ten (10) Winning entries will be published in the Spring/Summer 2011 Young Adult Showcase titled Mystery Times Ten. Each winning author will also be given the opportunity to “fast track” their next Young Adult or Middle Grade manuscript with our Editorial staff. In addition, the top three entries will receive Gift Cards and other prizes.
