Largest Corrosion Control Event in the World to Comes to San Antonio, Texas, March 9-13, 2014
NACE International's Annual Conference & Expo, CORROSION 2014, to focus on public and environmental safety, and training and education to reduce the $2.2 trillion global cost of corrosion.
More than 6,500 professionals who specialize in controlling and preventing the damaging effects of corrosion and rust will attend NACE International’s 69th annual CORROSION 2014 Conference and Expo, held March 9–13 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Executives and corrosion experts representing industry, government, and academia will travel from 69 countries to participate in more than 1,000 hours of symposia and forums focused on corrosion issues related to pipelines, petroleum refining, oil and gas exploration, highways and bridges, water and wastewater, and more. The event will also host the world’s largest corrosion-focused expo with 415 exhibitors showcasing the latest technologies, products, and services designed for corrosion control and prevention.
“You hear it in the news all the time—aging infrastructure, old pipelines, bridges, and highways that need maintenance work or replacement due to the destructive effects of corrosion—these are the problems that attendees of CORROSION 2014 work to resolve,” said NACE Executive Director Bob Chalker. “Corrosion is preventable, and this conference is all about how we accomplish that. Professionals who work in all areas of the industry will be here, including corrosion engineers, cathodic protection specialists, coating inspectors and applicators, scientists, vendors, and many others.”
Some of the featured events this year include the Corrosion and Punishment Session, which explains the legal side of corrosion control and how it impacts all personnel who sign off on pipeline integrity; the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Forum on Fuel Corrosiveness; the Pipeline Operators Council; the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Pipeline Safety Forum; CoatingsPro magazine’s inaugural Coatings Contractors Forum; and a forum on the Return on Investment of corrosion control measures.
Other popular events returning this year include the cathodic protection test field, where attendees can get hands-on experience with cathodic protection tests and activities; and the Women in Corrosion luncheon, where women in the field will gather to network, discuss trends and developments in the corrosion industry, and share personal stories about their experiences in the corrosion profession.
