Plansee presents tungsten electrodes at Fabtech.

The Fabtech in Atlanta is the largest exhibition on the latest technology in the metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing industries. This year Plansee will be exhibiting and presenting its TIG and resistance welding electrodes made of tungsten.

Plansee’s trade show presentation will primarily focus on the thorium-free TIG electrodes WL15 and WL20. They convince with the same quality as their thorium-containing predecessors WL15 and WL20: good ignition and reignition properties, high current-carrying capacity and a long service life. Thorium free electrodes offer two main advantages: They are environmentally and health friendly and reduce the costs for packaging, transport and disposal. To make the change to thorium-free electrodes, Plansee did not have to reinvent the wheel as WL15 and WL 20 have been core competency of Plansee's for many years. If you want to find out more you can also see a test report. Anyone wanting to try the electrodes for themselves can get a free test offer at the Plansee booth.

Besides the TIG electrodes, Plansee will also be presenting its tungsten electrodes for resistance welding. Heri Sontgerath, responsible for the welding segment at Plansee USA, summarizes the range of Plansee products: “At the Fabtech we will not only present our tungsten-copper-discs, but also our classical back-cast electrodes made out of tungsten, molybdenum and TZM. The seamless joint between the electrode and the electrode holder guarantees constant thermal conductivity as well as constant electrical resistance of the electrode. This also favors a longer service life: Customers state that the Plansee electrodes last up to ten times longer. They also benefit from reproducible welding results.”
