CALGARY - The National Energy Board (NEB) received an application on 8 February 2011 from Vantage Pipeline Canada Inc. for a certificate to construct and operate the Vantage Pipeline Project (the Project).

The proposed Project would carry liquid ethane from a processing plant near Tioga, North Dakota, through Saskatchewan to a gathering system near Empress, Alberta. The Canadian portion of the Vantage Pipeline would consist of approximately 580 km of pipeline and related facilities, of which approximately 574 km would be in Saskatchewan and 4.5 km would be in Alberta. In total, approximately 525 km of the proposed pipeline is along or adjacent to existing pipeline and road right-of-way.

The NEB will announce procedures for dealing with this application at a later date.

The NEB is an independent federal regulator of several parts of Canada's energy industry. Its purpose is to regulate pipelines, energy development and trade in the Canadian public interest.
