CALGARY ― The National Energy Board (NEB or Board) will hold an oral public hearing to consider the Vantage Pipeline Project (the project).

Vantage Pipelines Canada Inc. (Vantage) is applying to the Board for a certificate allowing the construction and operation of new facilities.
The project would include approximately 578.3 km of new 323.9 mm outside diameter high vapour pressure (HVP) steel pipeline.

The project is designed to transport up to 9500 m3 per day of liquid ethane from North Dakota, U.S.A. to Alberta. The Canadian portion would begin from a point on the U.S. border 75 km Southwest of Estevan, Saskatchewan and connect to the Alberta Ethane Gathering System (AEGS) near Empress, Alberta. The proposed pipeline route is about 573.8 km in Saskatchewan and 4.5 km in Alberta. Approximately 54.9 km of the proposed pipeline would not be next to existing right-of-way.

The oral public hearing scheduled to begin at 9:00 am local time, on 1 November 2011 at a location to be determined. The Board’s proceeding will obtain the evidence and views of interested persons on the application.

Interested persons are invited to participate in this hearing in one of three ways:

  1. by seeking intervenor status; or

  2. by filing a letter of comment; or

  3. by making an oral statement to the Board.

To be considered for intervenor status, applications must be submitted by noon (MDT) on 17 May 2011; letters of comment and letters requesting permission to make an oral statement are due by noon (MDT) on 19 August 2011. These documents must be sent to the Secretary of the Board and a copy sent to Vantage and its counsel.
