Diversity Organizations Honor Best Practices in Financial Industry

The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) will be joined by Acting U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Jeanne A. Hulit, SBA Deputy Associate Administrator Eugene Cornelius, Jr., five-time Grammy Award-winning jazz artist Ski Johnson, and fellow National Business Inclusion Consortium (NBIC) leaders to ring the closing bell on the New York Stock Exchange on Monday, February 3.

Spearheaded by NGLCC, the NBIC will ring the bell as a precursor to Financial Services Diversity Leadership Awards, presented by Bank of America, taking place at the NYSE that evening. The NBIC represents diverse communities that total more than $9 trillion in annual consumer spending power. In addition to NGLCC, organizations in the consortium include the following:

  • U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
  • National Black Justice Coalition
  • U.S. Business Leadership Network: Disability at Work
  • U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce
  • Women’s Business Enterprise National Council
  • WEConnect International

"Our partnership with sister organizations in NBIC not only highlights the estimated 1.4 million LGBT business owners, many of whom are also people of color, women, and people with disabilities, but also brings together the broader diversity community in our common, ongoing mission to improve business inclusion among Fortune 500 corporations," said Justin Nelson, NGLCC Co-Founder and President.
