NWF selected to receive matching funds from Animal Planet's R.O.A.R.

RESTON, Va. (September 22, 2014) – National Wildlife Federation is pleased to announce it will once again compete in Animal Planet’s R.O.A.R. matching campaign from September 8 through October 7. Funds raised through the matching campaign will support National Wildlife Federation’s Adopt a Wildlife Acre program, which protect habitat so wildlife have a place to roam safely without running into livestock conflict.

"This unique opportunity gives our supporters the chance to double their impact when they donate to help wildlife,” said Tom France, senior director, Western Wildlife Conservation

Northern Rockies Regional Center in Missoula, MT at National Wildlife Federation. "Money donated to NWF via this campaign will help secure much needed habitat spanning 12,000 acres to protect wildlife including bighorn sheep from deadly disease in Southwestern Montana.

National Wildlife Federation’s Adopt a Wildlife Acre program addresses the conflicts between livestock and wildlife with a voluntary, market-based approach. NWF offers ranchers a fair price in exchange for their agreement to retire their public land grazing leases. In most cases, livestock producers use the funds to relocate their livestock to areas without conflict. Wildlife has secure habitat, and ranchers’ cattle can graze in an area with fewer problems.

Animal Planet’s R.O.A.R —which stands for Reach. Out. Act. Respond—works to improve the lives of animals in our communities and in the wild. National Wildlife Federation is one of seven charities chosen to participate in the 2014 R.O.A.R. matching campaign, during which Animal Planet will match, dollar-for-dollar, all donations made to the charities up to $250,000 with a maximum donation per individual of $10,000. In addition, National Wildlife Federation is competing to win up to $50,000 in bonuses in several categories, including: Top Monthly Fundraiser – Dollar Amount, Most Unique Number of Donors, Most Traffic to Your Cause Page, Loudest “ROAR” Heard by Judges and Fan Favorite. The winner in each category will earn a $10,000 bonus.
