NattoPharma - last installment on Patent Sales Agreement paid Janaury 3rd 2012
“NattoPharma ASA is pleased to announce that today the company has paid the last installment on the R&D Agreement and the Consultancy Agreement dated December 6th 2006. No action can be brought for retrievement” says CEO Peter Carlsson and continues “this is a major step for NattoPharma since the ownership title to these three patents no longer can be questioned”.
NattoPharma ASA acquired three patents from VitaK BV on December 6th 2006,
a) Vitamin K2 containing food product
b) Isoprenyl derivatives and their use in treatment and prevention of osteoporosis and cardiovascular calcification
c) Composition comprising vitamin K for treating or preventing cardiovascular disease
The Patent Sales Agreement has strict provisions for the fulfillment of two other contracts between the parties – a R & D Agreement and a Consultancy Agreement running from January 1st 2007 till December 31st 2011. Should NattoPharma ASA act in breach of any of the aforesaid agreements, VitaK BV could without any payment retrieve the patents. This is no longer applicable, the obligations towards VitaK BV are fullfilled.
