Navinci enters into cross-institutional collaboration for high-throughput spatial interactomics

Uppsala, Sweden – April 7, 2026 – Navinci announced today a new collaborative initiative between Uppsala University, SciLifeLab, the Chemical Biology Consortium Sweden (CBCS), Navinci, and Pixl Bio, which aims to develop a next-generation technology platform for mapping cellular signaling and drug responses at high spatial and molecular resolution.

The project Spatial Interactomics with Cell Painting (SIXP) brings together complementary expertise across academia, research infrastructure and industry. Uppsala University researchers contribute leading expertise in molecular interaction biology and drug discovery. SciLifeLab and the Chemical Biology Consortium Sweden (CBCS) provide advanced high content imaging, screening capabilities and data infrastructure to support scalable technology development and future national access. Navinci Diagnostics contributes proprietary multiplex in situ proximity ligation assay reagents and assay development expertise, while Pixl Bio provides advanced image analysis and AI-based tools for spatial data interpretation.

The SIXP collaboration focuses on establishing an integrated experimental and computational workflow that combines Navinci's multiplex in situ Proximity Ligation Assay (misPLA) with morphological profiling by cell painting and advanced AI driven image analysis. The primary goal of the collaboration is to develop and validate a high-throughput spatial interactomics workflow, capable of profiling signaling pathway activity at subcellular resolution in large-scale experimental settings. This integrated technology will allow researchers to systematically study how drugs, genetic variants and biological perturbations influence cellular signaling networks.

Once established, the technology is planned to be implemented within the CBCS infrastructure at SciLifeLab, enabling access for researchers across Sweden and supporting applications in drug discovery, systems biology, and precision medicine.
