Govies Award Win and PKI Certification Reflect the Company’s Dedication to Ensuring Secure Communications for Public Agencies

NCP engineering today announced that its remote access VPN solutions have been gaining traction in the government market. Today, 24 federal, state and local agencies have equipped themselves with NCP’s technology for fast and easy, yet secure, access to their network resources and communication of sensitive data.

For instance, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS) selected the NCP Secure Enterprise Management (SEM) system and the NCP Secure Enterprise Client to meet its evolving secure remote access needs. The state agency chose NCP’s software because it allowed a single administrator to easily and centrally manage the VPN clients of the 350 employees who work in the field. The technology also supported the broadest array of operating systems, was interoperable with almost any VPN gateway or network equipment, and was fully customizable to meet IVRS’s unique requirements.

NCP has bolstered its ability to equip government customers with robust remote access VPN solutions with a key industry award win. Security Products Magazine has named the NCP SEM 3.0 as the Gold winner in the ‘Network Security’ category of the 2013 Government Security Awards (“The Govies”).

In addition, NCP achieved a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certification from the Department of Defense (DoD) for its hybrid IPsec/SSL VPN gateway and centrally managed IPsec VPN client. This ensures that the DoD and other government agencies can rely on the NCP Secure Enterprise Server and the NCP Secure Enterprise Client to encrypt and secure remote access to applications and documents within their networks.

Key Facts

  • The Govies” honor outstanding security products that are crucial to IT professionals within federal, state and local agencies and private sector partners. NCP’s SEM 3.0 system was honored for its ability to allow simple end-to-end management of an organization’s entire remote access infrastructure. One administrator can centrally support more than 10,000 VPN users, and update rule-sets, certificates and settings based on each individual’s device and network connection.

  • The NCP Secure Enterprise Server supports both the IPsec and SSL protocols, and its modular software architecture and high scalability provides flexibility in setting up a remote access network. The hybrid VPN gateway’s standardized interface allows an IT administrator to import data from established directory services (e.g. LDAP, AD) as well as from identity and access management (IAM) systems.

  • The NCP Secure Enterprise Client is a universal IPsec VPN client that removes all complexity for IT administrators as well as end users. Every access point to the Internet becomes a secure point of entry into the organization’s network. All security settings and configurations, such as firewall settings, device compatibility, connection negotiations or policy requirements, are handled automatically.

Supporting Quotes

  • Government organizations are searching for solutions that not only offer the highest grade of security but also allow their increasingly mobile workforces to easily access network resources,” said Patrick Oliver Graf, general manager, Americas, NCP engineering. “Our customer work, combined with this recent award win and PKI certification, are proof that we have the market expertise and solid software to fulfill public agencies’ needs.”

  • We're a small IT shop considering the diversity of our network, so we focus on applications that allow fewer people to manage them. I tried a few other VPN offerings before NCP’s, but this one met all of our required criteria,” said Bill Dickerson, network security administrator, IVRS. “The IPsec VPN client and management system are non-intrusive and incredibly fast, and include some nice features like Friendly Net Detection—the remote access VPN solution has things we only dreamed of.”
