Nefab enhances operational efficiency

Nefab delivers complete packaging solutions to customers in some 30 countries. As part of efforts to conduct cost-efficient and flexible operations, a continuous redistribution of operations is being carried out among the European units, Labor-intensive activities are being transferred to the company’s units in Eastern Europe, while the Western European plants conduct more highly automated production. Consequently, the unit in Alfta in Sweden is facing a surplus employee situation. Production volume is expected to remain at the current level, but will be of a different character than previously. Accordingly, Nefab Emballage AB has today informed the County Labor Board regarding notice to terminate the employment of 25 persons. The notices affect both workers and staff personnel. "This measure is part of continuous efforts to become more competitive. Production must be carried out at locations that offer a competitive cost situation and are well situated logistically,” says Lars-Åke Rydh, President of Nefab.
