CDON Group AB (publ.), the leading e-commerce group in the Nordic region, today announced that its subsidiary, CDON AB has signed an agreement with Strålfors Svenska AB (PostNord) on the construction of a new central warehouse in Ljungby.
CDON.com consolidates most of its warehouse operations to Ljungby, Sweden, into one of Sweden’s largest and most modern facilities designed specifically for e-commerce. The new facility, which in the first phase totals 25,000 square meters, is expected to be fully operational in 2015 and is built by Strålfors Svenska AB.
Paul Fischbein, President and CEO of CDON Group, comments: “A highly modern and efficient central warehouse is a key competitive factor for a large e-retailer such as CDON.com, and an important part of the successful transformation we are executing in the company. With the new central warehouse, we can improve both cost efficiency and the customer experience through consolidated and more secure deliveries, while reducing the environmental impact.”
Today, CDON.com has eleven warehouses across the Nordic region, one of which is already operated by Strålfors in Ljungby. As the new central warehouse is fully deployed CDON.com's logistics related costs are expected to be significantly reduced. The move will begin in the fourth quarter 2014 and be gradually implemented over 12 months. The investments attributable to the warehouse consolidation are estimated at a total of SEK 10-15 million.
