Neste recognized with the European Chemical Industry Council’s Responsible Care Award of Sustainable Workplace

Neste has won the widely recognized Sustainable Workplace Award 2019 by the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic). The awards were presented on 24 October 2019 in Cefic’s Chemical Convention in Helsinki. Other award categories were Chemical Safety Award, Environmental Responsibility Award and National Associations Award.

According to the Sustainable Workplace Award criteria, Neste as the winning organization has been able to implement effective process safety management systems, best practices and improvements for chemical prevention as well as preparedness and response to reduce major process hazards and risks. With a global programme ‘Way Forward to Safety’ Neste has significantly increased safety performance and culture. Neste has achieved excellence in Occupational Health and Safety including management commitment, employee engagement, healthy workforce and workplace and evidence of a culture of proactive health risk management and wellbeing support initiatives.

Since 2015, all teams at Neste have committed to further develop the safety culture by making public team safety commitments. Also the contractor management process including health, safety and environmental aspects has been developed and implemented. 

Neste was selected in January 2019 as the world’s 3rd most sustainable company on the Global 100 List. The company has been a member of the European Responsible Care program since the start of the program in 1991.
